ATRKE Capital was incorporated as Peregrine Capital Philippines, Inc. on September 4, 1990 to engage in corporate finance and financial and investment advisory services. In September 1993 the company obtained a license from the SEC to operate as an investment house, and in September 1997, the company was granted a trust license by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, allowing it to provide trust and asset management services.

 

Following the 1997 Asian financial crisis, the company was acquired through a management buy-out by a group of investors led by Philippine firm ATR Holdings, Inc. and Singaporean stock broker Kim Eng Holdings, Ltd., after which the corporate name was changed to ATR KimEng Capital Partners, Inc.

 

In June 2003 the company became a wholly-owned subsidiary of ATRKE Financial Corporation (ATRKE Financial) following its injection into the latter via a reverse stock swap, resulting in ATRKE Financial becoming over 57%-owned by Philippine investors led by ATR Holdings, with Kim Eng holding a 39% interest in the company. ATRKE Financial is a diversified financial services group listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange, trading under the symbol ATRK, and whose business activities are strategically focused on capital markets, insurance and real estate.
